Watched a great preso by Larry Wall on Perl 6 and associated ideas/philosophy/direction. I love this stuff. I really love this stuff. I stumbled across this link whilst reading a post by Chris Dolan on his blog over at Code Flux.

Programming is Hard, Let's Go Scripting... by Larry Wall. Brilliant read. People need to take a more holistic approach to their programming. One of the comments to this article summed it up nicely - this should be required reading for anyone aspiring to call themselves a programmer.

But then I'm perl biased (probably because I know it well unlike most of its detractors? :D).

If you "fork" without ever waiting on your children, you will accumulate zombies. On some systems, you can avoid this by setting $SIG{CHLD} to "IGNORE". See also perlipc for more examples of forking and reaping moribund children.
